Preach The Word

The purpose of this course is to examine and reflect on the practice of public Christian preaching, to increase understanding of the nature of preaching and to begin to develop appropriate approaches and skills for this task.
By the end of this course you should be able to:

– Distinguish the critical elements in effective communication
– Explain the nature and purpose of preaching and it relevance in today’s world
– Understand different preaching models
– Plan, prepare and deliver a sermon effectively

This course is for anyone who is interested in preaching or teaching. You may feel that God has given you a gift of preaching the Word which needs to be developed, or you just want to understand preaching better so that when you listen to sermons you are better equipped to appreciate the preacher and the text. This course is also suitable if you feel that you may not preach publicly, but are interested in leading Bible Studies in small groups.

Venue: It will be a mixture of Zoom and in person but the first couple of sessions will definitely be on Zoom.
